Greenock Golf Club - 9 Hole
About
Founded in 1890, Greenock Golf Club sits high over the town and benefits from a 1924 redesign by James Braid. The course architect advised buying up the farmland the golf club had leased and laid out 18- and nine-hole courses, finished in 1927. Both feature moorland, trees define several; one could say without exaggeration the vistas across the Clyde Estuary toward the Argyll hills are awesome.
Choose a round on the nine-hole course at the Greenrock Golf Club, and you'll look at a par-32 layout that measures 2,200 yards, was designed to high standards and is golfable year-round, thanks to its free-draining nature. Many features were retained from the natural undulating parkland.
For such a short course, this on has a lot of high-caliber holes, including the stretch from the fourth to the eighth. The fourth on the nine-hole golf course at the Greenrock Golf Club, for example, is a par-4 348-yarder from tee to plateau green, the fifth hole features a climb to a high tee with spectacular views of the River Clyde and the Argyle shire hills, and it just gets better.
