Sprawled across the rolling plains of Drumoig sits Drumoig Golf Club, an open parkland course with wide fairways and tall grass. The long, swaying grass that borders the fairways is penal and set the tone for a difficult round calling for accuracy.
Long drives and skillful irons are required to score low at Drumoig. A 25-foot quarry wall sits on the fifth hole - the course's signature hole - which is played into the westerly wind and plays longer than its 565-yard tag.
The front side has just one par 3 and two par 5s, playing a par 37, with the backside playing a par 35.
The course also features a hotel, which is relatively new and still growing. The hotel and club is set on 320 acres. There are 24 rooms in unique lodges across the way from the main facilities. Many rooms overlook the 18th hole and lochs.
Drumoig also has an assortment of eating options. The club is also home of the Scottish Golf Union and the recently-completed Scottish National Golf Centre, which hosts some of golf's latest technology.
