Six miles east of the town of Dunfermline lies Cowdenbeath Golf Club, a relatively new course in the area built in 1988. The club is often called "Dora" due to its setting atop the old Dora coal mine. The course lies in a traditional parkland layout and has gentle undulations and tree-lined fairways.
The club plays slightly more than 6,100 yards and is a par-70 for men, 72 for women. The front nine has three par 3s, with the shortest, No. 4 playing just 115 yards and less than 100 from the front tees.
The only par 5 on the course is the 525-yard 17th. The front nine closes with a short and tricky 145-yard par 3, which is preceded by a long par 4 - one of two on the front side over 400 yards.
Power carts aren't available, but pull carts can be rented. Caddies are available to the public as well.
The course is moderately priced and you can purchase an all-day pass here if you like. Club membership is 400 members, however visitors are welcome daily at Cowdenbeath. Societies are welcome as well as long as you call in advance. Road postings are posted in the village from A909.
