Six miles north of Kirkcaldy in the village of Cardenden is the Auchterderren Golf Club. The nine-hole club originally opened in 1904 and is set in the heart of the land that gave birth to the game of golf. It's set in a former mining village and has beautiful views of the countryside.
The course begins with a 200-yard par 3 and continues with three par 4s all of different length. The longest par 4 on the course is the 432-yard third hole. Back-to-back par 3s No. 5 and 6 are comparable in par only.
The fifth is a demanding 248-yard behemoth, while the sixth is little more than a pitch-and-putt at 117 yards. The final three holes are all short par 4s, closing with the 335-yard ninth.
