Not a memorable GC

Played in July when staying in Dundee. Not a memorable course but playable. In ok condition. Would not necessarily recommend.

Quality course

We have played this course a few times over the years & it never loses its character. Nearly every hole seems to stand out on it's own when you tee up the ball. A well maintained course with each hole having it's straight forward or tricky side to it, depending on which hole you are on. One to put on your list if in the area. The staff were all friendly & with the covid situation were well organised, making it another day to remember in Scotland.

Must play

Absolutely fantastic golf course. Every single hole has something about it. There are no boring holes at all. I will most certainly be visiting the course again. Was unable to use the clubhouse facilities due to time restraints and the current regulations but it looks like a fantastic set up with views over the course. The pro shop is well stocked with very friendly staff. Had a chat with a member before the round who was also very friendly and gave some hints and tips about the course lay out.

Parkland delight in Dundee

This was my second favorite round of the week during The Open at Carnoustie, only behind Montrose. I loved this parkland layout more than the rest of the links I played. It's that solid.

What I loved about it was how the routing is so natural winding through the wonderful trees. The trees don't really come into play except the sharp, dogleg 16th hole. Tees are so close to greens and holes are always changing direction. I especially loved that because it was pouring rain and I was trying to play quick. I got around in about 2:15.

Five par 5s (par 73) is also a neat touch, not just because it's one more birdie chance, but because so many of the old links around here don't have many of them. The back-to-back 5s, 13th bends right and then the 14th goes back left. Really nice.

The course I liken this to most among recent plays in America is Niagara's Whirlpool, a Stanley Thompson design. Both are delights, not too tough for average players but plenty good enough challenge anyone. Great greens and a splendid, gently rolling setting. I'm glad I was tipped off about this place.

Lovely day

Should not have expected play to be quick on a Sunday afternoon but it seemed awful slow at 4 hours just the two of us. The course was in lovely condition and everybody very pleasant both in the pro shop and clubhouse. The pro, particularly was a cheery, accommodating chap.

As for eating , we had soup and it was a bit thin and tasteless but the rest of the day made up for it.

A lovely day, though, at a really super price.
