Tucked away in the Sintra Mountains near Lisbon, the Atlantic course at Penha Longa Hotel Spa & Golf Resort has a steeply sloping terrain that provides stunning views of the surrounding protected landscape areas of Sintra and Cascais. The designer, Robert Trent Jones Jr., strived to create a challenging golf course while still maintaining the natural beauty of the land. The first and last three holes snake through a valley covered in tall pines and sprinkled with rocky outcroppings. The sixth hole is the course's signature, both for the level of challenge and the beautiful scenery that it offers. The hole plays downhill and downwind with a slight dogleg right. Bunkers strategically situated near the generous green await to test golfers' accuracy.
