I have always been a little pesemistic about the Pestana courses. At times i feel its golf for the mass market..... Gramacho was a really nice course to play, not overly long, but some very tidy thought provoking holes, plenty of elevation changes and good greens, sadly the elements that do disappoint are from that mass market element, no raking of bunkes and no pitch mark repairs.

Nice Course
I had been told a lot about Gramachio before the visit with my wife. The staff were great and the layout very good. Gramacihio is one of the Pestana courses in the area and is probably only second to Vila Sol at Vilamoura. We had an enjoyable round there are a few challenging holes but nothing contrived. I would recommend the course to anyone.
mixed feelings
This really was an odd course.... so much to like and so much more to dislike, the check in staff and bar staff could not be less helpful........proper mardy ar5e. The course had had some issue in the morning which meant we were running about an hour late, apparently some "amateur " had run a buggy into a lake? the starter was about the only helpful person on site. The layout is "different" and there are some very odd holes 15 and 17 to name but two.
Of all the courses that i have played in the western Algave, this would be the bottom of the list
There are better choices.....
We found this course to be short and scruffy! Too many of the holes are of similar length - short 4s of around 300 yards - and some are downright quirky. Not to mention (OK - I will) the unplayable downhill par 3 10th. Curiously - and at the price they charge - the course is usually busy.
A must
Europe golf at its best. Lush fairways, tough greens, a more North American look than usual courses in the region. A must play. Great layout.
