One of the most beautiful courses in the county.
This course is on paper nothing special, but there is just something about it that is magic. The course length and layout is average but it has some incredible views, great landscaping, and is just a pleasure to play. The front 9 is pretty flat and features some tough shots into the green but has some very fun tees to hit off of. The back 9 is very hilly and has some amazing tees including the 15th (I think) where you tee of a ridge that is easily 150 feet above the fairway. This course has everything in it that makes golf so fun and if you have a good game this course will be the best one you will play this season.
Really fun course!
I was really impressed with the condition of the course as I had heard it was not very good in the past. I love the 2 completely different 9s. It is a challenging, interesting and beautiful course. Good greens, great fairways. You really have to think your way around this course. Overall I loved the course and can’t wait to play it again.
Sudden Valley is a Gem in the Northwest.
Great place to play in the Summer.
Front side is relatively flat and opened and gives you time to warm up before the tight hilly back nine.
Lovely homes line the fairways.
Try the Mexican Grill above the Club House at the 19th hole.
Bang for your Buck
As a Junior member at Sudden Valley, I have the chance to play the course year round. The course is in great shape now with well cut fairways and greens. Try to avoid bunkers on the course because they are filled with rocks. Other than that, it is a great course for the price and is usually wide open weather permitting. The course has a nice wide open front 9 with a tougher narrow back 9.
Decent for the price
Slow course. Back 9 is much better. Probably will improve later in the year. The course is worth the money.
Very interesting golf course
Teed off at 2:30. Played in under 4 hours. Because of previous rains the course was wet and soft. Not much roll on any of the shots. Greens had been aerated but were in good shape. Front and back 9s are completely different. Front 9 is open with some water. Back 9 is cut out through the hills. Tight fairways and elevation changes. Very fun and interesting. Will definitely come back for another round.
a drive worth the travel time.
A Beautiful course! Better than i had expected, a nice front 9, long , challenging, water carries, beautiful senic round! Deer on the par 3( 6 )The back 9 has hill's, valley's, tight fairway's and water hazzard's @ 200 td, #17...a round well worththe 1 hr. drive, like Arnold said, I'll be back !
Great shape for this time of year
We played in mid November and course was in best condition of several we played in the area. Great value for the money.
Well worth the money
The course was in great shape for playing in late October. It has 2 very different nines, the front nine is a little more wide open while the back nine is more narrow. A little too much OB on some holes but overall a good experience.
Beautiful course
Love the course layout and setting. Unfortunately the tree lined fairways are getting sparse from lack of sunshine. Also, they recently aerated the greens and they are heavily sanded. Don't think we got a heads up on that when we booked. We rely on that when booking and avoid courses that recently aerated.
Pace of play was better than I expected.
Green speed even throughout. Saw some improvements on course condition from last time I played there. #11 & #12 fairways were a bit squishy, but most everything else on back 9 was dry enough for cart. Sudden Valley is always an interesting track with great variety from front 9 to back 9.
This course is in great condition.
The views of Lake Whatcom and the mountains are outstanding. I really enjoyed playing the course.
Nice views
Greens roll true and staff was friendly. Easy to get to.
nice course
one of my favorites in the bellingham area, nice and dry late in the summer.
slow pace of play on a fun track
extremely slow round. played nine holes with 3 friends who had to leave after nine. on the back nine I was alone in between two foursomes. nice course and great weather but the pace of play was the slowest in over 5 years...and it was a monday.
Fun course
Lots of fun and improving every year. Still needs a nicer restaurant and the ability to sell adult beverages.
perfect day
Great day 80+ degrees right on the lake. Greens in terric shape for being so dry as of late. Definitely will be back.
2 courses in 1
Excellent value, front 9 is a "lakeside" course, back nine is a mountain course, like playing 2 courses in one go. Greens were really fast. Back 9 is definitely very challenging. Walk it to get exercise, don't be like those lazy butts who cart it, unless you're really old of course!
Really Nice Course
Had not been on this course for almost twenty years and its a good challenge but not unfair. I took a friend who hasn't ever played much and we had a great time. The course was in great shape and the weather fantastic.
enjoyed the scenery as well as the pin placements.
Beautiful layout and challenging back nine.
Located along Lake Whatcom, this course is a true gem. The front plays towards and along the lake while the back nine winds up into the houses. The front is fairly benign with wider fairways and fairly flat terrain. The back is where the fun begins winding through the neighborhood with plenty of elevation changes. You need to bend the ball each way on the back with multiple dogleg configurations. Hole 15 is an awesome trip with a big dogleg left, drive-able for the brave , big hitter. Hole 17, a par 5, is a tricky decision hole off the tee. Do you bust one over the creek, or lay-up? Great course and value.
