Spiritwood GC

What a pleasant surprise this course was to play. The pro shop staff gave us every indication that they were glad to see us come out and play.

The scorecard says it plays 5865 yards from the tips. For most, that is a comfortable distance but the yardage is deceiving as to how tough this course can play. The course makes it way through stands of aspen, birch and spruce trees. The rolling fairways get tighter from hole 2 onwards and every green is a small target. That's what makes this course so much fun to play, just a bit of uneasiness playing off the tees and then into the greens.

Conditioning was very good and the greens spot on for pace. Holes 1, 5, 8 and the 18th stand out.

It commands your full attention on every shot and requires disciplined course management. Bring your "A game" as this track can easily expose any weakness.

A Great Golf Afternoon

We had a nice afternoon it was windy and cool, but the trees around the holes made it very comfortable. There are interesting features such as the lake, the elevation of the greens, and the bridges. It was beautiful with the wild roses blooming in the trees.
