Pay for what you get
Didn't have any carts when we got there. Meanwhile everyone on the course had their own cart with wife riding shotgun. The greens are mostly sand. The fairways are mostly weeds. You pay for what you get!
Nice.... But
If they would spend some money and fix cart paths and seed and plant some grass this would be a great course. Difficult layout and challenging holes. Conditions were NOT good, tiring course to play with all the elevation changes and uneven lies. Seemed like a mountain course. SPEND SOME MONEY ON THE COURSE!
Very Unique Course
First, the clubhouse staff were very friendly and helpful. Being February, nearly everything is dormant so it would be interesting to play as grass is growing. The layout is challenging, but fun. I’ve never played a course in this area with such elevation changes. Great value with the hot deal. I would recommend and will play again.
Worth the price.
We paid 17 dollars a piece to play this course which was exactly the right price for the conditions. The staff is super friendly and helpful but the course is rough, fairways are dirt and bumpy, greens are painted and cart paths will briise your kidneys. The layout is great and if they can grow the grass in it can be a great course.
Another good day at 'the valley'.
As usual, we had a great day. A 4.5 star rating would be more appropriate since everything was good and the only issue that really popped up are the paths. They have done some repairs on the worst of the worst and I'm sure others will get attention soon. Paths are expensive whether asphalt or concrete so a gradual repair schedule is likely. Ideally they can 'fix' the sections that exist...many areas do not have paths but the grass/turf is good enough. I'd rather have the price remain reasonable than have paths throughout. The new management has achieved quite a turn around in the last couple years.
Good Value
Nice place to play. Laid back staff. Great pace of play. Greens in good condition. If you can birdie or par hole 7, you're pretty good. Landing area is about 10 x 20 yards or it's coming back down the hill 30 or 40 yards. Nice challenge.
Great staff...golf is pretty good as well!
We drive a great distance to play 'the valley' and it is due to the warm welcome and fair prices...and of course the golf is a plus!
They have been working hard to improve the course and it shows. As long as the pricing stays reasonable (to justify our nearly hour long ride) we will be regulars.
ADD: Everyone that works at 'the valley' reminds me how it used to be at courses years ago. They go out of their way to ensure we have a great visit...something I really appreciate.
Good value
The owner and staff are outstanding. Thet are very friendly and accomodating. This course is in the process of revitalization. The layout is good and fun to play. The greens are nice. The fairways and tee boxes are average, but he cart paths are mostly poor. But, who cares? That said, I still really liked the course and will definately go back.
Has a lot of potential
Interesting layout.
Pros-Very friendly staff.
greens are in great shape.
Cons- Cart paths are in rough shape.
Bunkers were like hard pan and there were no rakes.
You can tell they are working on restoring the course back from serious disrepair. I will play here again and see how it continues to develop. I think it could be a hidden gem if they are able to continue their development.
Fun Outing but a Bumpy Ride
Twin Valley is a fun course to play, with several challenging holes, including two par threes with pretty severe elevation changes (one up and one down). First off, the staff is very courteous. Secondly, the greens were, for the most part, in great shape and rolling true. The fairways, though, were not that fantastic, but for the price this is to be expected. And, as others have pointed out, the front and back nines are quite different--the back nine is full of elevation changes. I almost tipped my cart twice! What stays in your mind about TV Golf Course is the really terrible conditions of the cart paths. They look--almost entirely--like they've been bombed, which made the ride throughout the round pretty bone-jarring. Cart paths aside, I'd still return to Twin Valley for more rounds--it's always a fun outing.
A good course that's getting better.
Good greens and not bad fairways. Contrast between front and back nine, with back being more difficult.
Getting Better
I played this course a couple of years ago...it was beyond terrible!!!! I said I would never go back. When leaving they told me they were going to start bringing the course back. After reading the reviews this year I thought why not give it another try
. MUCH...MUCH BETTER!!! Still got some areas to improve on but definitely going in the right direction.. I'll be going back now..
Greens are fabulous. Fairways are decent. Tee boxes needs work
This is my first time playing the course. The staff was very friendly and offered great advance on how to play the course. The tee boxes, sand traps, and cart path need a lot of work. The fairways were decent (a mix of grass and crabgrass). The greens are fabulous (they rolled true and no ball markings). The layout of the course is awesome. For the cost, this is a great course to work on your game (a good mixture of narrow and open fairways).
Great course for the money
Played this course about 5 years ago. I vowed to never go back but man what a wonderful change they made. Layout is better and a bit more challenging. For the gold now price it can't be beat.
Value
Fun layout and friendly staff and price is worth the drive from Charlotte
Great value
Such a fun course to play. Relatively short, but the layout and elevation changes makes up for it! The greens are in great shape, and you can tell that the course is being brought back from being in disrepair. The friendly and very grateful staff made us feel very welcome and emphasized their desire for us to have fun. I hope the grounds team will continue to work on fairways, tees, and bunkers. There were a few holes that need a lot of work done on fairways. I would definitely frequent this course if it was in better shape on tees and fairways. We had a blast!
Rough road
Rode cart over back jarring cart paths. Actually hurt my back riding a cart. Course has come a long way though. Getting better all the time.
