Worth the trip
Everything but a few spotty fairways was in excellent shape. The attendants could not have been nicer, and the layout was nice. Lots of nice homes around the course, plus the waterfalls add some character.
Great Course!
Happened to be in town for a project nearby, snatched up the Hot Deal on a weekday and played a quick 18 holes, solo.
The course pro working the counter was very friendly and helpful. The staff on the course were very courteous. There was a lot of mowing going on, but all the staff would shut down their mowers and park off to the side as soon as they saw me coming, and then continue on after I had played through. Course was very challenging and had some really beautiful holes. The course has lots of sand traps, all were well maintained and easy to play out of.
I played during the week, around lunch time. There were a lot of seniors on the course, the course pro at the counter directed me to start on 10 and then come back to play the front...it was definitely the right call to make as I think all the seniors headed in after playing only the front 9.
I definitely recommend this course to anyone in the area!
a must play course
a golf course that you need to play. it was in excellent shape it's not very long but with uphill and downhill shot and lots and lots of sand trap and water hazard you have to play smart one of the prettiest par 3 around with a waterfall in front of it
Brad Harris
Staff was very welcoming and helpful. For the early spring the golf course was in great shape. Nice layout and a lot of scoring opportunities. Recommend it to golfers of all levels.
Nice little course
Nice course in good shape. Bunkers are excellent white sand in perfect shape. Greens are fairly fast, not the smoothest but for a public course still nice. Fairways are in decent shape a few dead spots but not to bad. Course is very short but very tight with big houses on most holes. I only hit driver once most holes could hit 5 wood, wedge from blue tees. Course requires straight drives though and rough was tall enough if you get a poor lie approach was difficult onto firm greens. I putted horrible and shot a poor 73. Course is nice for a variety of skill sets, my group had myself a plus 2 handicap my brother a 5 handicap and a 15 and a 20 and all were able to enjoy the course. I would play this course again. I prefer burnside over this course mainly because of the length but 2 others in my group prefer this course. Go play it you will enjoy, can get a deal we paid 20 dollars for 18 with cart well worth the money .
Best Course around Lake Cumberland
Great Fast Greens, loved the waterfall holes#6,#13
What a hidden heel
This place is amazing and the course is in great condition. Tight fareways and lager fast greens. Challenging course. 81 beautiful white sand bunkers and if you play without hitting a few, then you are pretty dang good. Loved the two waterfalls and the links style play. Choose your shots, play it smart, and you might come away with a good score. Definitely going back to get some revenge.
very nice course
well maintained course, greens are very good fairways are good, a few are under repair but are doing well. I would recommend this course and I well come back . they are doing a great job and a lot of work into the course.
Good looking course
Great course to play will be back to play again laid out nice great price for the course
Excellent course
Well kept course and beautiful and very clean and I will definitely be back to play on this course. Also liked the design and landscaping of this course.
Found a little gem in Jamestown!
The course is an easy drive from anywhere on Lake Cumberland, where we were staying at the State Lodge. The staff was super in every regard, and the food service was outstanding. The fairways are a bit rough in places, and the rough is a little burned out and brittle, so they want you to stay on the paths or in the fairways for now.
These are some of the best greens I have ever played on a public course. Plenty of slope and very smooth; holding very well but still pretty fast.
They have some beautiful water features on the course, and quite a few blind shots, so if you have not played here before, I suggest you have someone drive to the crest of the hills to forecaddy shots, or you will spend some time looking for balls. Stay clear of the high grass, or you will be spending some balls.
Overall a terrific time, and we will be back the next time we come for a week at the lake.
We hope everyone supports this course, so it will be there for us on our next trip.
You Decide
The course is basically the old Links Course with a lot of improvements. The main improvement is the GRASS. The grass is way above average. BUT IT HAS THE SAME SLOPING FAIRWAYS . Most of the greens are raised above ground level and uphill. I would not discourage anyone from playing the course but would not recommend it either.
What Happened!?!?!
I played this course last year and it was so beautiful. I was so excited to come and play it again this year. I don't know what happened, but the course looked absolutely horrible. On some holes I thought I was playing on nothing but dirt. I was so dissapointed playing there that I will not come back until someone else tells me that they have repaired the course. It truly looks so bad that, I'm not sure they will even be able to get it back this year. Heed my warning .
early season
This course will be terrific once the fairways green up.
Slow pace was my group's fault, usually pace not an issue.
Not as advertised
2 of the guys I played with had played here before, and went on and on about how nice it was. The fairways were at best a 3 on a 1-10 scale. $6 million renovations; I expected much nicer course. Must say though; signature par 3 waterfall hole was beautiful! We pretty much had the course to ourselves but still felt rushed because the mowing crew was on our heels mowing tee boxes. I'll try again later in season to see if they can get their fairways up to.....PAR!
Course is beautiful!
Enjoy playing here. The course will be even better when it warms up.
Beautiful Place, still needs some work in areas
Lake Cumberland Golf Course is a newly-renovated course in Jamestown Kentucky, formerly known as the Links at Lilly Creek. It re-opened in 2012, and is a very enjoyable place to play golf. My most recent round was on a Saturday in August. I payed only $15 through golfnow.com. The staff were extremely nice. We booked a tee time at about 1 pm, but forgot that this course is located in central time zone. The staff just let us tee off when we were ready, since they weren't too busy.
The golf course has wonderful landscaping, including flowers and spectacular cascading water features. Holes 6 and 13 each boast artificial streams/waterfalls that flow in front of the green into a lake (from which I assume the water is pumped).
The greens and fairways still need some maintenance in places. The greens are not fully grown in, so the grass is a bit sparse in some areas. They still rolled well, however. The fringe areas were quite long, and the rough around the greens was very difficult, so short game options were limited. The bermuda fairways had some dirt patches on a few holes, usually the ones with large slopes where runoff water washed away the soil. The sand bunkers are all new and in great shape. The bunkers are bordered by thick zoysia grass, so in most cases it is better to be in the sand than in the thick stuff.
I expect this course to improve over the years, provided it gets enough business. I recommend taking a trip to Jamestown to play here.
Beautifully well-maintained course
Lake Cumberland Golf Club was a beautiful golf course accented by numerous creeks and waterfalls and by well-maintained fairways and greens. The course was fairly narrow, more so on the front nine than the back, which provided a good challenge for me. You've got to hit the ball straight there off the tee! Possibly the best course on Lake Cumberland, which says a lot with other courses such as Woodson Bend and General Burnside Island!
This course is beautiful
Probably THE best course around here and the surrounding counties. If you know the area, it blows Eagle's Nest, Woodsen Bend, Burnside island, all away. I absolutely have nothing but good things to say about this course. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did
Great up and coming course!
Very nice withe beautiful scenery. The value for my money was based on the golfnow discount, otherwise wouldn't pay full amount. Full price of other courses are better for the price, even though they aren't as nice as what Lake Cumberland's potential is. It will be super nice once everything is complete. 1st time I've played there in 20 years. Course isn't mapped out, not enough signs on which way to go since there's so many path ways, n the flag sticks don't have the hole number. So I guess it was just me cause I haven't been there in a long time. But again, once its complete n fairways have thicker, fuller grass and all the other items I mentioned, it will be super nice. Still say, the full price is kind of pricy for the area regardless of how nice it is.
