Rating 71.5

Well maintained greens and the burn running through it makes for a feature at several holes. Really hilly, particulary back 9 so be prepared for a hike. Gets you right out in the country and away from everything. Memorable Hole - 9th. Dog leg right to a steep sloping green, with burn running along front of it. Drive to the dog leg to leave an accurate pitch into green. If you hit front of green its more than likely a watery grave for you.

Make or Break - 5th. A monster 500+yds par 5. Tee from an elevated green then you need a good fairway wood to leave you chance of hitting green in 3. Out of bounds burn runs all way up right hand side of hole and round back of green. 3rd shot to green, tucked in a corner, is usually blind. A par here is excellent.

Shouldn't have been let on to play

Loosing balls in the fairways as it was all bogged waterlogged all over would be a nice round in the summer shouldn't be playable in today's conditions

Ardeer Gem

I used to play this course when I was a junior. Now some 30 years later this course has matures into a great parkland course with long challenging holes. Greens were in amazing condition. I had a late tee time and practically had the course to myself. Would definitely play again at the brilliant discounted prices.

Well kept

The course was in fabulous condition and the only thing I’d pick up on is the tees which can be forgiven given it’s pretty much the end of the summer golf season

Decent course, but not when wet.

A course that doesn't like rain. Soggy in area's around the course. Course itself is good test for the average golfer. Played in the afternoon but a lot of grass cutting going on, this in turn left lots off clumps of wet grass throughout the course. No interaction with staff as none could be found, felt as though could have turnt up and played for nothing. Decent course but better when dry.

As usual

All fine but the distance markers on the ground were obscured by grass and as relative strangers this made the round frustrating. A problem common at many courses BTW.

Excellent

This course is in great condition with plenty tricky holes. Easy to get in trouble if you're not careful off the tee. Can't always hit driver with a few sneaky dog legs it's often more sensible to go wood or even iron. Would definitely play again.

Deceptive

First time and was advised the course was challenging. It is a course where you need to be direct off the tee on a lot of holes with little margin for error. Greens and fairways were in good condition. 17th green was being redone but overall a lovely course. Will play again when I'm next over to visit family.

Overcharged.

Course has a lovely set up, and is nice in areas but as far as I am concerned it wasn’t worth the money charged. Greens are in a poor state. The course appears to be built around a massive pile of rubbish which is an eye sore. Such a pity because it has the location and set up to be so much better. Played other courses in the region recently for the same cost bracket and they were in so much better condition. Disappointing.

Not spring ready

Course is hilly but that has always been the case. Played today and two weeks ago. Still recovering from wet winter. Mat is provided for fairway and par 3 tee shots. Winter green on 17th only.

Don’t waste your money

The layout of the first 9’is great with a good mix of holes however the same can’t be said about the back 9, pretty much apart from 2 holes on this 9 is up and down hill side by side and very repetitive.

The general condition of the course is severely lacking attention to detail and pride taken in it, cut grass on the fairways and the rough and very hairy slow greens. The tee boxes had been cut that day and the green keepers hadn’t bothered to replace many of the tee poles and markers.

The course was wet albeit 4/5 days after heavy rain but should be drying out quicker.

In summary don’t waste your money loads of better courses in the area for the same price or cheaper.

Played better council courses

Awful conditions for a private owned course in the middle of the golfing season. The greens are bare in places and in other parts reminiscent of putting on a fairway. Tee boxes are uneven and all chopped up. There isn't a second cut to the fairway so if you dont hit the fairway expect to lose your ball in what is meant to be light rough. We were robbed 20 quid to play this and that was discounted from 30 quid. All 6 of us were unanimous at the end of the round that hands down it was the worst course anyone has played on. Feel bad writing such a bad review but no course should be in such an terrible condition during the golfing season, especially at the prices being charged!

Ardeer

Have played this course about 10 times in the last 2 years and have always found it an excellent course with very friendly staff, unfortunately today’s experience was not as pleasurable due to the fact that all 18 holes were on winter greens.
Would not have played it today if this information was on the tee off times website .
Hasn’t put me off playing it again as it’s a great course with a challenging layout .
