Nothing Else Like It!

Ballyneal is a golf experience like none other. From the dirt road up to the property to the simple driving range to the world class golf course, everything is unique and wonderful at Ballyneal.

The golf course itself it amazing. There is plenty of width off the tee to allow for aggressive play, while still presenting the player with enough trouble to make you think.

The playing surface is firm and fast. We played a day after a rare rainfall so some of the fire was taken out of the course, but it was still plenty bouncy.

The greens at Ballyneal are the star. There are almost always feeder slopes to get the ball close but if you get on the wrong side of those slopes, watch out! There are many birdies out there, but double or worse is always lurking.

I recommend arriving early if you're fortunate to be invited and spend a lot of time on the practice putting green. It's wild and a lot of fun.

Ballyneal is just an awesome golf experience. Must play if you get the chance!

Like a warm, inland Ireland

Even though my golf game tuck-and-rolled out of the SUV somewhere between Denver and Holyoke, I nevertheless had a blast in our 24 hours at Ballyneal. The main course is about as Irish as it gets with the exception of no sea breeze. The ball runs and bounces like crazy and the dunes are high and dramatic. Few flat lies are to be had in the fairway or shots from the same elevation. Doak's greens are wild for sure. I found myself trying fun shots instead of the practical or smart shot most of the time. Truth is, this is a course that is a shame to play only one time, there is too much to soak in and consider. That's precisely the point here, as it's a member's club (most members are members at 2-3 clubs) where most come for a night or two and play all their feet will allow.

New ownership have recently installed a putting course, Mulligan par-3 course and more lodging. The fescue greens are now a bent-poa mix. This place seems to be really hitting its stride.

The ultimate golf hideaway

Ballyneal, what a cool place. Just like Bandon, Ballyneal has golfers' DNA down pat.
The golf course is pure, maybe Tom Doak's best. To me, it's an even better routing that Pacific Dunes or Cape Kidnappers, just without the ocean. Who knew there were such amazing dunes in eastern Colorado? The holes zigzag through them with ease, a nice mix of long and short.
The recent additions since 2017 - two new cottages for foursomes, the Commons putting green and the 12-hole short course - have made this one of the best 'hangs' in golf. Even the milkshakes are five-star.

Amazing Golf Experience

Ballyneal is one of the best courses I have ever played. Awesome routing through the huge sand dunes of Eastern Colorado, great course conditioning, and just an all around perfect golf experience. If you have the opportunity to play drop everything and go. Doak hit a home-run with this course.

Everything they claim is true!

Played last week of May so fairways were not totally grown in yet but, Wow, is this what golf heaven in the USA is, yes I think so. Having played extensively in Ireland and Scotland it may not be my favorite course in the world, bit absolutely the best in the states. This is a golf only destination and does not pretend to be otherwise and it is worth it. Greens are very interesting and can give some fun putts while the course is long, the fairways are wide enough to let er rip. Having a caddy is also a great experience here, loved it.
