Longside Golf Club
About
A relatively new golf course in Peterhead, just 31 miles from Aberdeen, Longside Golf Club was opened in 1979 and extended to a full 18 holes in 1996. A parklands course that plays to 5,251 yards from the back tees, Longside Golf Club demands accuracy off the tee and intelligent golf-course-management skills to navigate.
The scenic qualities of Longside Golf Club are outstanding, as are the amenities - a modern clubhouse features a bar lounge that has outstanding views of the No. 1 and No. 18 holes. The River Ugie runs through the golf course, adding to ambience of Longside, as well as adding to the challenge.
Near the coast and sent in a quaint Scotland landscape, Longside Golf Club has quickly earned a reputation as a place to enjoy a fun day on a flat golf course that provides great views and a calm atmosphere. With its seaside location, Longside has become a popular choice for those looking to get the most from a Scotland golf package.

Great wee course
Nice course, some tricky holes, greens in great condition. Well done green keepers
Great day out
Lovely course, nice and flat but some challenging holes.
Longside
Longside golf course is a great wee course, not to taxing on the bones. I would reccomend to anyone who wants a pleasurable round of golf.
Lovely course
Great flat course, well maintained. Enjoyed playing here for the first time will definitely go back .
Great little course
As a beginner golfer this was a great course to start on. One par 5, several par 3s. Two or three holes quite challenging and easy to lose balls if not accurate but playing conservatively it’s an easy course. Greenkeeper spoke to us a few times and was very friendly.
Nice parkland grass, good lies
Nice condition, smallish greens , excellent condition, lots of grass but still run true and fast..
Not busy so had relaxed day.Would use again. ..
The club should update their course on this website, more than half of the course is closed off which should be known to guest prior to booking. The putting green was too overgrown to be able to us. The temporary tee stands were unusable as they were too icy and could have been gritted. There was no signange to keep players on the correct route from hole to hole. Overall we were highly disappointed with the course and won't be back for a while.
Nice course, long rough
Great price for a round of golf, plenty water and trees to avoid.
Rough is too long. Makes it very hard to find a ball just off the fairway even.
Nice bar and meal set up.
Usually pace is fine, but we were first on after a tournament and the four balls a little slow in front.
Round on Saturday 12th September
Longside is a shorter than average course which is fine if you have only a few hours to play. It is a good course for beginners and those who don’t hit the ball long which is why I chose it for giving my son a round .
There are some testing water hazards to play over from the yellow and white tees but the blues tend to be on the dry side of the tee which is good for learners.
Some of the holes run side by side so awareness is key when teeing off to make sure no one is playing the other hole and encroaching on your side. This also means you have to watch your ball if you are off the fairway in case it gets picked up by another player who may think they’ve found a ball.
On a positive note, my son who is a junior enjoyed playing here so I may end back here for another round to keep him interested in golf .
Great course for a relaxed game
I know this course suffers from wet ground during the winter months but you really couldn't fault the condition of it when I played it recently (July). The fairways were nice the rough was tough where it should be. The greens rolled really well. They were not too fast or slow, fairly easy greens to putt on (except the 5th green).
I played off the yellows, the course play very differently off the whites.
The river Ugie meanders through most of the course creating water hazards in many areas. The course isn't long but with out of bounds on the left of the first 7 holes bad hits can be punished. There are quite a few par 3's which I don't view as a positive but not a negative either. Par 3 holes, 5th, 11th and 14th are fun and the others are a bit straight away 180+ par 3's. The one par 5 is broken into 3 by 2 ditches crossing the fairway. A 250+ carry drive might see some benefit but less than that you're in the ditch. Par 4 wise there are some basic holes but they tend all have something to them. Either OB or water. Notable Par 4's would be the 3rd, greenable with a good drive, 7th a big dog leg left with a chance to cut the corner and even look at the green. The 15th is another dog leg right but offers little benefit to cutting the corner. Then the 16th a very drivable par 4. surrounded by bunkers a lay up shot may be a better choice.
The clubhouse was closed due to Covid but I have played the course before and been inside. The clubhouse is welcoming with a bar and kitchen. I don't think the kitchen is available all day everyday.
There are free to use changing facilities and the last time I was there there was a shower too.
Perfect course for an outing or getting started playing golf. Then as you get better the hazards start to come more into play.
Good beginner course
Found the course to be good fun with plenty of opportunities to practice shots. Being quite quiet helps with first timers. Condition is what you pay for.
Nice course
Nice straightforward course, well maintained. Friendly staff & co players. Very good value for money
Very poor
Course was very poorly presented, on winter greens when no need for them, fairways not cut. Very poor course you could just drive and wedge it round, very damp obviously a problem with drainage on the coursr
Interesting
We played this course today, it was handy for us as we were staying with family nearby. Will definitely play it again now we have found our way around, some tricky little holes which we enjoyed, but found the course difficult to navigate, mainly due to the lack of simple directions between green and next tee.
