The Palmer Ryder Cup Course at the K Club, short for Kildare Hotel & Country Club, is one of the premier parkland golf courses in Ireland. This American-style layout is arguably Arnold Palmer's best design. Besides its border with the River Liffey, the course is surrounded by trees, which are also abundant throughout the course. Water comes into play several times and there are also wide, flat bunkers strategically placed throughout. The golf course ends with its most dramatic hole, a par 5 that requires a long drive over the top of a hill littered with bunkers. The real challenge is the second shot though, which is to a green that is easy enough to reach but flanked by bunkers on the right and an encroaching lake to the left. The K Club is home to yet another Arnold Palmer-designed course called the Smurfit Course.
