Beauty and the beast.

Firstly, let me state......I'm a member of this fabulous golf course and proud to be so.
This is a players course. It is unique. Only nine holes, but each and every one of them has its own features. This is a course that you have to have a look at first, as playing it blind for the first time is extremely difficult. Have a walk around and play with a member if possible. This is an iron players course and the only advise I can give you about playing it is, commit to each shot. If you back off a shot, this course will eat you up. The course is set in a most beautiful area surrounded by wild south Connemara bog with stunning sea and mountain views. The beauty of the place is balanced very well with the difficulty of play. It is one of the most challenging courses in Ireland but a most rewarding experience if played well.
The Guinness served here is second to none, really. I don't know why, maybe it's the sea air mixed with the surrounding heathland that causes the body to react to a pint of Guinness here but truly it's a wonderful experience on the taste buds.
The clubhouse is also unique. It is the only thatched clubhouse in Ireland. The staff are friendly. The food is top class, but you have to make sure to order food in advance as the membership is small and therefore the catering, while top class, is not open all the time.
This is a course not to be missed. It is difficult and stunningly beautiful, a beauty and a beast.
