There is a saying about the two 18-hole championship courses at Ballyliffin Golf Club, which are the northernmost links in Ireland. The saying goes that the Old Course was forged by god and the second course, Glashedy Links, by man. Despite sharing the same topography, both courses have a unique character. The Old Course is a lengthy layout that is routed below the hillier section, amongst the plentiful dunes. The golf course is most famous for its rumpled fairways. Golfers will be hardpressed to find a flat lie on this course; it is often difficult to find the ball from even just a few feet away. Relentless winds off of the Atlantic sweep erratically through the course, adding yet another challenging element.
