Founded in 1927, Lahinch Golf Club stands as one of the oldest golf clubs in Ireland. There are two 18-hole courses at the club, the Castle Course and the Old Course. The origins of the Castle Course date back almost as far as its sister course. From the opening of the Old Course in 1928 to Castle's unveiling in 1975, the layout underwent many changes but still maintained the landmarks of the original Lahinch course. The golf course gets its name from Dough Castle, of which the remains can be seen from the seventh hole. The towering sand dunes that cover the landscape are incorporated seamlessly with the rolling greens and undulating fairways. Like any classic links course, there are a number of blind shots to challenge golfers.
