Course Review and Comments
IMO, The Oaks course is not your playable resort GC and warrants some re-working on and around the greens. I consider myself a better than avg golfer. Mid-single digit hdcp and did not enjoy this round of golf at all. The greens and areas around the greens are one of the poorest and most unfair designs I have ever played. Tee to green there is ample room and it's quite nice. Your fun (or nightmare) will start with your approach shot. Severe run offs and very tiny landing areas are the norm. Unless you're laser accurate, expect a lot of run off into large collections areas and/or deep bunkers. This also makes chipping and putting equally difficult. Granted, I played the Oaks in dormant Bermuda conditions. It plays very fast this time of year and I expect that the greening of the GC will soften the blow a bit. I just don't know how a mid to high hdcp golfer will ever enjoy playing this track. I'll be anxious to see how the PGA Pro's react to the course.
It's a shame because the resort is spectacular. Compliments to the Marriott. World class accommodations. I wish the Oaks course was a bit more fair.

Fun and Challenging! Loved every Texas inch of it! I have played many challenging courses and this is one of my favorites. Can't wait to get in another round - or two!
