Course Review and Comments
Beautiful course. Great layout and in sparkling condition. Challenging, yet very playable even for the 19 handicapper like me. Staff as accomodating as can be. Any favor I asked was fine with them. For instance, can 5 yr old play with me...yes. What will he cost....nothing. Can his grandfather who doesn't play ride along too....yes, he just needs his own cart....no charge. Can I start a little early at the twilight rate....yes. Can I take about 5 beers with me...Yes, there's coolers built into the cart, take as many as you want. WOW. I played it twice and the 5 yr old only came along for 7 holes the second time around. His grandfather drove him off when he'd had enough. I felt like I was the only one out there, and I had a ball, escaping my harsh New England winter, enjoying the warm, breezy Puerto Rican late afternoons. I shot 90 & 93, and even birdied a long par 5, the 11th. Let's face it, you can get some bounce and roll in Puerto Rico, and I creased a 3 wood to save my not so great drive. A 150 yd 5 iron into the wind, about 10 feet behind the cup, and rolled in the straight and true, downhill birdie putt. Life the way it should be! The river, the trees, the bridges, the wildlife... breathtaking, or should I say... priceless. Absolutely loved this course and rate it as high as any I've played. And again, I emphasize the staff. I played on a private course this past summer where I was admonished for my shirt coming untucked. Uppity bastards. The River Course was golf for the 19 handicapper, as if they built it just for me. Play it!
