Course Review and Comments

I like the layout a lot, but I won't play it again without personally checking the condition of the greens. The other beach courses we played last week - Waterway Hills and River Hills CC - were within $5 of The Valley's price and their greens were in much better condition. This is not to say that all their greens were perfect, but they were - on average - much, much better.

Course Design Rating
Course Design Comments It's a fun layout - short but you'd better keep it in the fairways. It beats me up - I hit it pretty long but tend to spray it off the tee, so it's not my ideal layout. My wife, who rarely misses a fairway, loves it. Lots and lots of sand, and a considerable amount of water and marshy areas. It's "target golf" all the way... plenty of doglegs and small landing areas. I leave the driver in the bag most of the time.
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Rating
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments All of the beach courses are suffering from a lack of rain - many show signs of drought and some have empty or near empty water hazards - but The Valley's greens are almost bald... no grass. They're working on them, but right now they're pretty bad.
Course Service Rating
Course Service Comments They're always very nice. We played last year when it was blazing hot and they were passing out small frozen towels to players!
Course Facilities Rating
Course Facilities Comments The grounds are beautiful - lots of flowers, attractive but small clubhouse. Not much of a pro shop or snack bar - few choices compared to most. There's a practice green but no range to my knowledge. There's a nice driving range at the par-3 across the street.
