Course Review and Comments
When I was asked if I wanted to play the Bay course or the Plantation course; I was not told that the Bay course had three temporary greens; I just picked the Plantation course because I was told it was a “must”.
I was staying at the Ritz-Carlton, I understand that technically the hotel is not affiliated with the course, but I did receive a nice discount since I was staying there.
I was told that restaurant was not affiliated with the course or the Ritz, so they had no control over the opening time.
If I had been told by the staff about the Bay course and the restaurant; and if the greens crew had explained to us (asked us if it was okay) what they were going to do (…although only God knows why they “had” to change a hole at 9am on a Saturday morning); I may give this place 3 stars.
I did talk with others on the island throughout my 10 days on Maui, including a few members and home owners, they all said the management and service has gone down hill dramatically. One person did tell me that the course was recently purchased by a private interest, but that they had signed a 2 year deal to keep the same management company, he said “no one on the island can figure out why”
Really too bad, the course sits on very nice piece of earth.
Save yourself the time and travel; go play your local city course and get treated better!
