Course Review and Comments
I have played at this course many times in the past. It seems to get busier as the years pass. My most recent trip was for my father's birthday. We started off rusty, and played as efficiently as possible, but still had a rough beginning to the round. Since we were slower than Gold Mountain's expected average time, we got harassed repeatedly to hurry up by the marshal to the point where he would follow us around the course at a distance and just sit and watch us. Of course this made us all play even worse. For several holes he would just stand in the trees and watch us, even when we were hitting right next to him. He made us self conscious about our playing, scores, and the time it took us. We spent the entire round worrying about how fast we were playing and as a result we all played poorly and didn't enjoy the round very much. Keep in mind, we were playing responsibly and at a brisk pace for a foursome, but because we couldn't keep up with the twosome in front of us, or the course expected average time per hole, we were ridiculed. I could understand the harassment if we were goofing around, but we weren't. Due to this, unless you are a single player or twosome, I would not recommend this course to anyone. They will ride your back if you are at all slow.
