Course Review and Comments

Loved it, shot a 12 differential off of the 127 slope whites. Think I could handle the 135 slope blues due to the fast and springy turf - lots of run, but not as extreme as Chambers Bay. Might be tough on a windy, rainy day. Looks like it will drain beautifully but we had a sunny day, so can't say for sure. Seems a little too loosely laid out for walking - we drove and felt like it may have been a longish trudge, with some long transits from green to tee. Enjoyed the big sky and "high sierra" feel with views of the sound and the mountains. Some punishing traps! The soil conditions seem naturally sandy and fairways were excellent. Beautiful and varied layout. A course I could play every day. Forgiving off the tee but some challenging holes and many classic links features like revetted bunkers, blind shots to well-marked target posts, mounding and rumpled fairways, wispy whin roughs. Not too many trees in play, for the most part. Nice practice grounds. Look forward to next shopping trip to Seattle - wifey to Nordstroms + Pike Place, me to HC!!

Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments Top-dressed greens and played winter rules. Greens were true, but (natch) slower. Fairway grass in some spots was very thin, especially where tightly mown -- needs a little attention, but mostly a spring thing.
