Course Review and Comments

For locals, this facility, with it's 36 holes and "club pass" is by far the best value in golf. If you are going to play Hawks Prairie more than 3 times in a year, then it makes sense to purchase the club pass.

The Links course is a great course to walk. A mid handicapper that is fairly accurate off the tee is going score well on the Links course. The greens on this course are relatively large and a few can be very difficult depending on pin placement. There are some blind tee shots (can't see the green) so if it's your first time, I'd recommend a cart where you can drive ahead to plan you shot from the tee (or play with someone that has experience on the course and can guide you.)

The Links course is the easier of the two courses at Hawks Prairie. I play the Links most of the time (even though I prefer the woodlands) due to the walkability of the course (woodlands... you better take a cart or be ready for a 5.5 hour round of golf and an 8 mile walk.)

Price paid for golf 19
Price comments The "club pass" is the best value in golf that I have come across. $49 per year for the "club pass" which gets you $17 plus tax greens fees M-Th, and before 9 am on Friday.

Regular rates during the week are $30-$54 depending on the season.
Course Design Rating
Course Design Comments Most of the holes are quite nice. My only complaint are the first 3 holes on the back nine. They are just a bit strange, and most mid handicappers won't be hitting driver on the first two par 4's and even on the #12 par 5. These three holes to start the back are all doglegs that are sharp enough and long enough not to allow you to "cheat the corner." The #12 par 5 is a sharp dogleg right that heads straight uphill at the corner - I've never seen anyone reach the green in two.
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Rating
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments The fairways seemed very dried out in spots. It must have been the 70 days of no measurable precipitation in the area. I believe they tried to keep a lot of water on the course and it showed in certain areas where the ground was not firm. However, the course was in better condition than you will ever find it in the winter when it plays rather wet.
Course Service Rating
Course Service Comments Great service in the pro shop.
Course Facilities Rating
Course Facilities Comments This is a 36 hole facility with two driving ranges and two putting greens. I think they could do a little better job in the restaurant, but really... no complaints. I'm there to play golf, not dine. Very easy to get a snack or drink at the turn.
