Course Review and Comments
Had the pleasure of playing here for the first time this week - in wind & rain.
Be warned - this course is not for you if you want a nice leisurly game with wide open fairways! It is a serious test of all aspects of your game - tight fairways, very penal rough, crazy pot bunkers and slopey greens.
You will need 100% concentration on each and every shot - there are no lazy swings allowed on this track!
Talked to the staff afterwards and they said that the course is currently playing US open type rough on a British Open style setup.
All that said - I don't think I've enjoyed a round of golf as much in years.
Every hole has a range of bunkers to catch short - medium-long drives - there is no overpowering it.
Greens have some really nasty runoffs into crazy deep bunkers (RHS bunker on 3rd green will give you nightmares!)
My favorite hole was the 3rd - a great par 5, with a tricky layup and bunkers from hell :)
No weak hole - and 2 great bonus par3s (7a and 12a) to have a bit of fun on.
I finished tired, beaten up - but with a huge grin on my face!
It's not a course you could play every week - but if you want to serious challange your swing, concentration and temperment - there is no better place.
I'm already planning my next visit.

I have to say I have played course all over Ireland and this is still the best. If you are a long hitter don't bring the driver but you need to bring you best short game. Length off the tee is negated

Absolutely wonderful golf experience. As per other comments, expect to lose a few balls - you MUST stay out of the rough! But each hole is memorable and you have to plot your way with each shot to h
