Course Review and Comments

Great piece of land, beautiful views of St. Andrews looking over the cliffs. Overall the layout is pretty good EXCEPT for the unnecesary "hairy bumps" in the fairways. I understand stategically placed bunkers, but rough filled mounds in the middle of the fairway that lend nothing to the course was a bit odd and only punished well struck shots. My guess is that they will close the course this winter and fix a few of the fairway "hazzards". BUT those are minor to the greens that are virtually unputtable. If I could take a tour pro and place a ball on the green in regulation but I got to chose where the ball was placed. I promise most couldn't break 80. The greens looked more like an elephant burial ground than a fair test of golf. I would play the course again only if they fixed both the fairway issues, but even more importantly the greens. Save your money and go play a true links course, isn't that why your going to Scotland anyway?
