Course Review and Comments
I am a regular member at Springs Country Club. I play Saturdays Sundays and Public Holidays. I started playing last year and have gone from a 36 handicap to a 19. The club members and staff are really great and always friendly.
I must say the course has improved alot in the past couple of years. some time ago all the greens were destroyed, how i dont know, but we were forced to play on temp greens for a long time. The club lost many members due to this and only a handful of our old and reliable members stayed and gave their support to keep the club and course alive.
I must thank the staff and committee and Springs Country Club for all the hard work to get the course to the place that it is now. things are looking great. All the greens are looking great, we had a fundraising day to get enough money to hollow-tine all the greens and that was a huge success.
I would also like to thank the Nomads for their sponsorship of a new irrigation system.
It is truly a pleasure to play at this beautiful course that is just becoming better and better.
By the way we are no longer a 71 course. The par 4 on the 3rd has been turned to a par five. it has been lengthened but not by so much. you could easily have a driver and 5 iron in. it is quite tricky though due to the big tree on the left which you could either try and go over or, the better option, try and draw the ball around. the course has a nice layout and is always a good challenge.
we have gone from having a hand full of members to now having +- 400 members. every saturday there is a club competition and we are now looking at having Sunday competitions as well due to the large number of people now playing here. we have also started with a junior competition on the first Sunday of every month which is great for the junior development. they get together and have a lesson from a pro on the driving range and then have a nine hole competition.
i must also mention the bar and halfway house. i, nowadays, find myself even on week days going and having a drink at the bar. it is a very relaxing atmosphere. and as for the halfway house, well, the food is always great and you dont wait an hour to get it, which is nice for people like me who like to get on with the game. :)
I really look forward to seeing the course return to what it was in its old glory days.
So come and have a game here, you wont regret it.
Look forward to seeing you there.

A traditional, challenging and well laid out golfcourse. Efforts to clean it up are evident throughout. Course staff need to be informed to curb their enthusiasm whenever players approach their work a
