Course Review and Comments

Full disclosure: Dye is my favorite architect so I was very excited to play this course. It is a classic Dye course with some specific differences. The course is not as tight as Harbor Town, Kiawah, the Valley or the Stadium. It is however much longer and plays longer than the other courses from the tips. The elevation changes are much more significant and water is not nearly as much in play here.
With that said, it is a classic Dye design. I got fooled at least twice on par 5’s and more than once I short sided myself and immediately found my ball in jail. Visually it is a stunning track and presents you with all the trademark Dye design quarks.
The course was in solid shape and the greens were consistent, though they did not have much fire in them. The staff was friendly and helpful from the cart guys to the beverage cart girl. It was a great day of golf.
If you are a single digit handicapper you should go out of your way to play this course. You cannot just hit it as far as you can and take your 60 degree and pin hunt. You’re going to have plenty of mid irons here. Higher handicappers will love this course because it is not as tight as most Dye courses and is very playable. This course is not to be missed.
