Course Review and Comments
If you are in it to golf, this is the place for you. The golf is great. Conditioning was excellent considering the course has only been opened for a month. Played off season at $65.00, not bad. The posted in-season price of $85.00 seems pretty steep given the lack of amenities (no halfway house, no alcohol, smallish clubhouse, etc.). Having just opened they have some things to work on. Due to the terrain, it is possible that the course is going to have to be cart path only year around. The pins are equipped with GPS recievers but there is nothing on the carts, I think I saw some kind of handheld device in the clubhouse but they were for sale at a VERY high price, not for rent for the round. At the very least, carts should be equipped with a yardage book mounted on the dash as the card they give you is small and hard to read. Why you would have a grand opening of a golf course in September is beyond me, unless they are using this time to work out the kinks, hope so, because this has potential to be an awesome golf destination. A local told me that legislation had been passed to allow the course to serve adult beverages.
The golf and the course is great, they just need to work on the amenities.

Gorgeous views, challenging holes, greens border on being a bit unfair with the undulations but were playable. |

Course opened in September, so I think they have some bugs to work out (only opened a month). Greens and tees, fairways were in great condition. Could use some 150 and 100 stakes in the fairways. Plenty of marked sprinkler heads, but you can't see those from the tee! |

Hard to say, played off season, one guy did everything in the clubhouse, and there was a bagboy. |

Again, hard to say, played off season. Clubhouse appears small and you do not pass it at the turn....where do you get a hot dog? There is a halfway house but it appears to just have restrooms. Course is on the reservation and is "dry"......say no more. |

I had a rather unpleasant experience at Sequoyah which involved the course's general manager. I was upset enough to write him the following letter:

Yes for masochists. I've played a lot of tough courses and a lot of mountain courses. This one is over the top. Exceptionally steep, lot of fairway bunkers, no flat lies--greens roll well.
