I played Hickory Stick on media day and enjoyed the course tremendously. The starter and ranger gave helpful advice IF LISTENED TO, while the course afforded bail out areas for those who can't make the heroic play. When RTJ2 offers a monumental carry over a hazard, it also provides an alternate route. Lesser players should seek those alternate routes, in order to save golf balls, strokes and curse words.
Ultimately, this course will have first-class putting green, clubhouse and practice facilities. Until then, the preview rate is quite fair.
