Course Review and Comments

I would only recommend this course to reasonably skilled players. I think it would still take several loops around this course before even a competent player would solve it's nuances and become comfortable playing here. For players who struggle to break 100 on an average course, this monster would be just too tough. In one instance, my wife and I played our round in a little over three hours. We played through a foursome on the 6th hole that started about 45 minutes before us. After we finished our game, we returned to the hotel and about an hour later, we saw that group from the deck over a beer. They were on #14 and it took them 5 hours to get there! Could they have been having fun?

Price comments As part of a tour package, we're not positive what our green fees were but we presume they were what is quoted on this website for weekday play.
Course Design Rating
Course Design Comments Creatively carved out of dunesland high above the shoreline, this is one very difficult golf course. Most of the greens are enormous (I had my SkyCaddy with me and some greens were 50 yards deep) and many of them are elevated as well so that determining the flag position and accurate yardages to the pin were nigh on impossible. Throw in steady 20-30 mph winds and you have one heck of a challenge trying to keep a repectable score. The greens also had some undulation to them and during the 36 holes that I played here, I had a couple of 80' putts or longer with 10-15' breaks. This course is designed with the expert golfer in mind and is far too difficult for your average six game per year duffer.
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Rating
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments Sadly, the two days we played here in early March 2011, we were obliged to play on six temporary greens on the front nine (2,3,4,5,6 and 9) and the practice green was also closed. They had been aerated, verticut and topdressed and were probably a week from being reopened. Otherwise, the course conditions were very good.

Course Facilities Rating
Course Facilities Comments Large, modern and spotless locker rooms, brightly lit and cheerful. Staff very willing to accomodate special needs (ie. shoe shine). The lounge looked appealing as well but since we were staying at the adjoining hotel, we didn't utilize it.
