Course Review and Comments
I only recommend this course to those that are looking for a value and don't mind walking. Santa Fe is a course geared more for the beginner golfer, it offers very little variety and is considered by most to be too easy. Seven of the nine holes are straight shots and require nothing more than the ability to hit the ball straight. The only challenge is on the eighth; you must make sure to hit over the road; yes, road that cars drive on, so as not to scuff your ball. Another complaint about Santa Fe is the lenght of the holes. Two of the par fours are less than 300 yards, another is 325 with an elevated tee box. You get the picture. However, Santa Fe does something that is remarkable. For the most part, the tees, fairways, and greens are in great condition, better than the other public courses in San Angelo. The ability to maintain a playable surface in West Texas without using thousands upon thousands of gallons of water is amazing and at a third of the price as the other public courses! For the beginner or the value golfer, go ahead and enjoy a simple round of golf at Santa Fe. For the more advanced golfer, try your luck at Quicksand or one of the private courses.
