Course Review and Comments
Having lived in/near Bucaramanga Colombia for 5 years now, I have played Ruitoque probably 10 times. It is a Nicklaus Companies design although Jack never visited. The course is built high on a plateau above the cities of Bucaramnga, Floridablanca and Piedecuesta (where I own a small nine hole pitch and putt course)
The course at Ruitoque is built among a gated community, easily the most affluent part of the tri-city area. They rent bungalows for visitors if you would like to play the course more than once.
Hole #8 hangs tight to the cliffs of the plateau which overlooks a small highway in the valley. The vista is stunning and could be compared to the vistas from mountain courses perhaps in Switzerland.
A good mix of short and long holes with excellent use of lakes and elevation change. Many consider this to be the best course in Colombia. Taking a caddy is obligatory but don't expect any help in English. The caddy fee is around $20 and the round $25. If you put this golf course in a resort area in the U.S. you would easily pay $200
