Course Review and Comments
I have played all the courses in the Portland area and for some reason I tend to come back to Rose City more often than the rest.
I found this course to be more of challenge than Colwood or Broadmoor and in much better shape than Heron Lakes or Glendoveer. The drainage is excellent with no soggy fairways to lose your balls. Heron Lakes Big Blue has the worst fairways than any golf course. I lost balls in the middle of the fairways in the middle of August, due to them plugging in the soggy, marshy fairways.
The greens are always in good shape with very suttle breaks that are difficult to read unless you have played the course a few times.
I also like the fact that it is never very crowded and the pace of play is perfect with little or no waiting on the tees. I have played on weekends and weekdays and the pace is always comfortable with no waiting or pushing. Unlike other courses with so many people playing with tee times that are bunched together every 6 minutes, it feels more relaxing not being pushed or waiting for the group in front while playing this course.
This course seems to be Portlands best kept secret as far as public golf courses. I only hope not too many people read this and it starts getting more play.
