Course Review and Comments

I think golfers that judge playability on distance don't get it or don't play a ton. Distance is only a piece of the equation of difficulty, and arguably the smallest piece for recreational golfers. Instead, lies are the secret killer of golf scores. It frustrating on this course to cut the center of the fairway, and find your ball in a designed "sink" so that you are striking it 8" below your feet, or it's a foot above your stance, etc. those are harder than distance. If you're a righty, expect to have a number of shots that give you a side hill lie beneath your feet (slice lie), into greens that don't hold and run towards....the hazard on the right. Numerous courses do this! It's a Pete Dye classic. Pete Dye's brilliance is lost on me I admit. I'm a Donald Ross guy. This is a VERY nice course by its punitive. I am a single digit handicapper and I had to work to earn my 80 playing the second deepest tees. I don't think anyone "worse" than me is goin to enjoy this place regardless of tees you play. You will NEVER have a flat lie. You shouldn't get so penalized for hitting fairways.
