Course Review and Comments
The course has been open for six months now, and the initial assessment has to be that a chance has been missed to create a good course. Given the vast sums of taxpayer money spent on it, to rebuild it and now to maintain it, one would have expected better. Bermuda's Premier is a golf fanatic, and it's only on his insistence that so much investment has been made in the course. When he retires, this year, it's difficult to see how his successor will justify (or want to justify) the money that will need to be spent to keep it in playable shape. The fairways in particular have a very poor soil base so the grass is extremely thin and is annihilated by the clubhead's impact, not so much taking a divot as vaporizing the grass altogether. How this can be repaired at reason able cost I don't. Bermuda's Tucker's Point has the same problem in many places, and they've not been able to cure it in 30 years- and it probably has a quarter of the usage PR has.

A surprising number of silly holes -the short 13th and 16th being the two most obvious. Lots of unnecessary false fronts. Very scenic, if hilly - not Kapalua, but hilly. |

This is a serious problem. The course manners seem to be awful; very slow play, divots not repaired; several of the fairways already look like the Somme battleground. Pitch marks on the greens are not repaired, so the greens are scarred and pock-marked.

OK, nothing special, typical public course; practice range fine, although there's no practice bunker - essential for a course that has a lot of bunkers. |

PR has the makings of a good course and is without doubt #2 to Mid-Ocean as a course and to Tucker's Point scenically. Tragically, because it is a public course, it is plagued with patrons who take fo

A great design with super use of natural landscape. A traditional golf course with a good varity of holes. Rent a buggy as it's quite hilly.
