Course Review and Comments
Port Chalmers is an absolute gem of a 9-hole golf course, 9-kms from Dunedin, on the South Island of New Zealand in a delightfully picturesque location. An old-fashioned and quirky layout, featuring strong hills, severely slanting fairways and greens with out of bounds lurking on seven of the holes makes for a stern test. Straight shooting is imperative but you also have to move the ball against the camber occasionally to stay on the short grass and stay clear of the mature trees. It's 100-years old but the course record is a modest 3-under par, 67. Nobody (yet) has turned over Port Chalmers! Far more likely to be the other way around. If you are ever in this part of the world, it's a not to be missed golfing experience but you'll have to save up in order to afford the green fee of NZ$15 (slightly under €10.)
