Course Review and Comments
This was a course that I had no intentions of playing during my vacation to Cancun. The cost was prohibitive to my budget, even the deal that was offered on teeoff.com was a stretch but, how often do I get the chance to play a course of this caliber...not very much. So, I splurged and I am glad that I did! The design of this course and the way that Greg Normans company used the natural contours of the land is well, incredibility beautiful! Once you leave the clubhouse area and get to the first tee you are a world away from everything and everybody. It is you and the course and of course the ever present iguanas. You truly have to be on top of your game, not only to get the ball in position for the next shot but, to keep it in the fairway as well.
The course is difficult to get to and, you can expect to pay $40-45.00 just for the taxi ride there and the same back. Food and drinks are not included and at the price that they charge for a regular greens fee it seems they could include this. At least beer and sodas! The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are shower facilities available. And, when I get to play this course again I will take advantage of them too. The sixteenth hole is breathtaking, a short par 4 with a large undulating green that is only yards from the sand and waves. The prevailing wind from the water means club selection is tricky! To much club and you are on the beach, literally. Not enough and you are well short.
Overall, this was an enjoyable golf round that I hope I can play again.
