Course Review and Comments

I was hoping to be able to write a good review, and there are some good signs, but after what I saw, I believe the owner is more interested in running a restaurant than a golf course, He does not understand, that given this location, without the golf course, the restaurant will fail. The practice area and driving range are still not open, the sand has been removed from the traps on 1, and filled with dirt, there has been no work on the bunkers for weeks. The white tee on 6 was ripped up, no activity there for weeks, the par 3 tees are already in bad shape. As stated above, weeds and dandelions, all indications of a tight budget for the course.
But, money was spent indoors, the pro shop cut in half. the 4-star restaurant has been opened up to the bar area (a good thing), the wait staff are now in respectable dress, you no longer have to look at tatoos etc. There was sufficient wait staff, and the halfway shack was open, but there was no one eating, Improve the course, play will increase, and more money will be spent in the restaurant.
BTW, I talked to people who played on Good Friday, they bought a six-pack, they were then charged a dollar for ice. A little thing, but C'Mon man.
Bottom line, its still a good track, but indications are the budget for the course is tight, and will continue to be so. If you want to play it, go early before the weather becomes a challenge, The superintendent is doing double duty between PNGC and St. Jude, and thats a difficult challenge and another indication of tight budgets for the course

Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments The greens were surprisingly fast, but time will tell, dandelions all around teh 16th green, weeds in the grass bunker in front of 13, I think it is signs of not giving the grounds crew the money to keep the course in good condition.
