Course Review and Comments
The course had been aeriated, 3 days previous to our play, and we played during the dormant season, so the aesethics weren't what they would be during growing season. having said that, playing #2 with a caddy was just a notch below playing oakmont last fall. the green complexes will bite you on every hole if you are not thinking through every shot around the greens. the fairways are as wide as any i have played, and the course from the white tees is not unfair. actually i thought the par 5's were fairly short. you breathe in the history and the ghosts the entire way around the course. i used just two balls for the entire 18 holes. the first one had only 2 shots on it... my drive on the first hole, and a 6 iron for the second shot, that look like it had rolled off the back of the green, but was sitting at the bottom of the cup, when we walked up to the green. my friend and i were paired with 2 members who were great, eric, our caddy was super, and pulling that ball out of the hole on #1 for an eagle 2 made for one of the most memorable days of golf in my life.
