The course starts out fairly long but straight. In fact, the topography along the beach causes little variation in the elevation and makes the course a bit bland. After several holes however, the layout improves, and by the time you get to the back nine, the scenery along the gulf takes over and the layout starts to show more variation.

Almost every time I've played the course they seem to be working on the greens, with aeration, over-seeding, etc. However the last time I played, the greens were finally in decent shape.

The overall length of the course makes it more challenging and the overall value because of the military rate makes this course one of the best golf values in the area.
