Course Review and Comments

I was fortunate enough to play a lot of great courses this year, but the Palmer Course at The Oasis certainly ranks right up there with the best I've experienced. It's truly a dramatic course - lots of excellent views, fun tee shots, and interesting holes. The par 5's were especially good. It was a very memorable experience! The King (Arnold Palmer) created an excellent track that rewards good shots and gives the average golfer lots of opportunities for pars and birdies. But you better bring a solid game with the driver here! Positioning off the tee is definitely the key to scoring well on this course. I am a 7 handicap and shot an 81 off the blue tees and felt like I played pretty well. Bring your camera - there are lots of great photo opportunities. I can't imagine that Wolf Creek is a great deal more exciting than this course.

(Also, one of the pro shop staff advised me that this course was far superior to the Canyons Course, so buck up the extra $10 or $20 and tackle The Palmer.)

Date course was played Monday 26th of October 2015
Price paid for golf 70
Price comments Played during twilight hours (1 pm) and paid an additional $50 for Nike rental clubs. If you choose to play earlier in the day, the green fees are double the price.
Course Design Rating
Course Design Comments It's a short course, but still offered plenty of challenge. On the first tee there was a sign suggesting that 7-11 handicaps played the blue tees (about 6100 yards) and I did. It was the perfect amount of difficulty. The course is well laid out with lots of great panoramic vistas and relatively few blind tee shots. The greens were tricky and the bunkers were well groomed but required a good shot to get it close to the hole.
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Rating
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments I wish the greens had been a little bit faster, but still rolled true. Fairways were in good condition and the tee-boxes were immaculate. For me, the greens dictate a huge portion of the overall rating for a course's conditioning, and it fell just a bit short for me. I love speedy putting surfaces, and I couldn't seem to get the ball up to the hold all day.
Course Service Rating
Course Service Comments Staff were very friendly and professional. My playing partner was very dissatisfied with his rental clubs (the set was dirty when he received them, and his set featured irons from several different sets... Which seemed odd considering the overall quality of the facility) but after he mentioned this in the pro-shop they gladly refunded him for his rental club purchase.
Course Facilities Rating
Course Facilities Comments The driving range was really good. The course was great. Can't say much more than that! Although I thought it was a bit of an inconvenience that range balls were an additional charge on top of the green fee.
