Course Review and Comments
This is closed course for military and their guests only. They offer accomodations for disabled players. I played with a fella that has one leg and he had no issues negotiating the course.
This is one of the better military courses I have played, second only to Fort Lewis. Old Hickory continues to offer challenging play for golfers of all skill levels. If you really get a hold of one then you will usually be set up for success. Accuracy is a must. Fairway width is average to narrow. Bunkers line several fairways. Driveable par 4's have plenty of danger to contend with. Water hazards are sporadic throughout the 18 holes with Legion Pond eating most of the front 9. Hole 2 is a short par 3 (110 from the whites) that carries water all the way to the fringe (almost). That is between clubs for me and I usually check up on a P-wedge. However, if I duff it then that ball is gone. If I smoke it then I'm 20-25 yards long and run the risk of hitting putters on #8. This course really lets you know where you stand with your golf game.
