Course Review and Comments
Did you notice the slope of 139? This course plays tough to first timers. Greens are very firm. It is a good play to be below the hole. I play it all the time, and offer this advice for the course (yardages fromwhite tees):
#1 - ~ 320yds Straight away. Easy tee shot to loosen up and you'll still have a short club in.
#2 - Two legged par 5. I have nevere reached so give it up. If you play conservatively, you should be putting for bird.
#3 - Down hill par 3 ~150yds. Green runs left to right.
#4 - Right side is trouble.
#5 - Short par 4 ~305yds. Drivable, but 5 iron will give you a wedge in.
#6 - Straight away, avoid the right side.
#7 - Longer par 3 over water ~170. Let me know if two of four are on the green.
#8 - Longest per 4 ~430 yds uphill. Left is dead.
#9 - Par 5 ~560yds. You can get over in 2, but accuracy is difficult from typical second shot. Lay up to 100yds out.
#10 - 400yd par 4. Tough hole. Be careful if over 180 out. Middle to right side of fairway is good. Left can leave you blocked from a clear approach.
#11 - Straight away par 3 ~170.
#12 - Hit it over the middle right of the hump.
#13 - Par 5 ~500. I have been hole hig in two, but never on. Wide open tee shot.
#14 - Uphill par 3 ~120. Multi-tiered green.
#15 - Do not try to cut the corner. Aim just left of bunkers about 230.
#16 - Aim for the tree. Unless you are good, you'll be to the right or left of it and should have a good shot in.
#17 - Tough hole par 4 ~400. Right handers can hit a cut over the bunker on the left and let the topology do the rest. Do not fly over the green. Back side bunker and sloping green will cost you a lot of strokes.
#18 - Wide open finishing hole. Never been on in two, but have been over many times. If you lay up, the fairway bunker on the right where you may be landing your second shot is about 125 out.

While in Ft Jackson on TDY I visited the course. Very friendly staff. Accomodated me in a foursome without having booked a T-Time. Received a Golf Club 56 page booklet that included all hole diagrams
