Course Review and Comments
Ignore some other reviews from some Interesting characters Fill Ma Glass-up, Fill ma-Crack In, Will I be Long....Indeed !
The visitor fee is very reasonable, you will be made very welcome by all at the club and the course will give you chances to make birdies and snowmen in equal measure...
As for some of the drivel written on here please see past/through it and give Mount Ellen a try, I'm sure you'll enjoy your round.
By way of information, we have a thriving Junior membership and team who won their area final and finished well up in the Scottish national finals, take from that what you will !

The course is short by most standards, this does not however mean it is not a challenge. It features many risk and reward holes where if your long game is good and accurate then you have the opportunity to score well, however if it's not then the small greens and strategic bunkering will wreck your card. It has many par 4's ranging from 310-360 yards so plenty of birdie opportunities but this is balanced with some very tricky par 3's ranging from 150 to one of 230 yards ( which to the majority will play as a par 4 ). I see some 'reviews' criticising the course for not having a par 5...go play the 7th hole, I'm sure the majority of handicap golfers will be delighted to make a 5 here, whilst a 4 is par it really does feel like a birdie. |

| Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments |
The course tends to play very well from late May onwards, where the green condition is very good. If you're missing putts it won't be the greens !
Being shorter the course puts a real premium on accuracy, it is crucial to hit the greens with your second shot or else making a par can be very difficult.
This course definently rewards someone who can think there way round the course and place their tee shot to setup the opportunity to attack the pin rather than trying to blast the driver 18 times and see what happens. |

I've always found my fellow members to be a welcoming and friendly bunch, along with all the club staff... maybe this is why we have a healthy membership with all the club medals and competitions well supported. |

The clubhouse is only 3 years old and fulfills all the members needs, Yes it would be nice to have a practice area and more lockers...But you have to cut your cloth to suit the budget you have |

I think all the reviews thus far have been far too polite. This is a short course and not challenging. It is looking well and so it should for the inflated price.

I would question anyone who is critical of this good test of golf. No par 5's? - Big deal, there are plenty of challenging holes and all greens are well protected by bunkers. A good water hazard fea
