Course Review and Comments
What a great course! We played Makai twice while we were in Princeville and really enjoyed the experience.
Pros: Course was in great shape and the views are out of this world! There are several holes with ocean views which is great, but the holes that actually play along the ocean cliffs are breathtaking. While not completely wide open, the fairways are large enough to give more inexperienced golfers a chance at a fun day while still challenging those more skilled. There are a couple of par-3s and short par-4s that require some grit to get through as you hit over or along side steep cliffs. At times, I felt like I was at Pebble!! Just take it all in and enjoy the day! Golf carts have a nice GPS system which we found to be very accurrate.
Cons: Greens have recently been punched and topdressed and were rolling much slower than what my group was used to. With the amount of rain that Princeville got while we were there, however, I guess I should have expected that. There is a lot of sand on this course which isn't really a Con...unless you're lousy getting out of sand. Just an FYI. There was not a starter on the first tee which caused a bit of a backup during one of our rounds, but the groups seperated after a few holes. Pro shop also had no problems sending out several singles (instead of pairing them up) during the peak time of day which I found annoying. No cart girl on the course which ought to be a crime. And I don't recall seeing any water stations on the course but I may have overlooked those.
Overall, this was a great course and, should I find myself back in Princeville, I'll be making a tee time here again!

This course has no organization, period. No starter. Every one standing around waiting to tee-off. Here's a clue, it's Hawaii and it's HOT. Try springing for a
refreshment cart. We expected and
