Course Review and Comments
Macquarie links is a great course to challenge the single figures player without sacrificing playability for the high handicapper. A course with an excellent array of holes, each with a new challenge and fun and interesting design. The fairways have plenty of swales and bumps to make them interesting as well as the greens, however they are not crazy swales like the greens at the lakes which make for a difficult day out.
The things i like most about this course are the width of the fairways (quite wide), the course conditioning (excellent, apart from some of the bunkering which needs some more sand, you can see the clay base at the tops of them), the rough which is not overly penal i.e. unless you really hook or slice your ball to the extreme you will probably find your ball. The strongest point of the course is the variety of the layout which makes great use of the natural landscape and enhances it with artificial hillocks etc, plus the signature par 3’s, 11th, 15th and par 4’s 14th and 18th.
Great course, highly recommended.
The course reminds me of playing on good courses throughout Asia, China, Japan etc.
