Course Review and Comments
I would enthusiastically recommend this experience to anyone who is hardy, loves golf and is a purist of the game. I love everything about it, as did my wife and our two friends. I can't understand the complaints about the distance between holes. It only gives a golfer the opportunity to soak in the ambiance of the countryside. I played it three times during my stay and can't wait to return to play it again. Having played a number of the big name Scottish courses, I found the low-key and less formal environment of the Dunes refreshing. On top of this, our lodging unit at Machrihanish Dunes was very comfortable, and the staff was professional and friendly.

There is a great diversity of holes. The course is difficult, but fair. The separation between holes created a sense of privacy. The natural setting and the way that the course is built into the terrain is truly captivating. |

Given its age, the course is in excellent shape. One green was damaged and therefore heavily sanded, but the others rolled very well. The greens are slow at present, but they should be outstanding in time. |

The staff could not be friendlier and more accommodating. Their was a vibrant spirit and the sense that everyone is in it to accommodate the visitor. I found the tenor refreshing. |

It is small, isn't glitzy, but has everything that you would want. The range an practice putting greens are not large, but they are well maintained, thoughtfully designed and really work well. |

I would recommend this course purely with the proviso that they get all their greens up to scratch. Out of the 18 at least half were heavily sanded and one was totally unplayable. The tees, fairways,

The Dunes is hilarilously brilliant. If you want to play a perfectly manicured parkland layout where the course is played through the air to drop and stop on the greens - don't bother with the Dunes.

Save your money. Takes forever to play due to long hikes between greens and tees. You are advised from the outset that the front nine will take 3 hours, even though they send you out with a guide.

Machrihanish Dunes is just brilliant for a brand new course. We played in great conditions - not a breath of wind but a huge swell on the sea with whiter-than-snow surf roaring onto the beach below. E

If I had paid £ 60 or more to play this, I would have been very disappointed. The course-design is nice, especially the front 9, but the condition of the course put me off. Given it's young, I might

After hearing all the adverse comments about this course I decided to give it a try. Must say I was hugely impressed by the condition of tees and greens for such a new course. Did not get a bad lie on

Machrihanish Dunes is neither a walk in the park nor a good walk spoiled. It is not to be missed by fans of links golf but requires a links mentality -- you are not going to score well on your first

This is not a course for pansies. If you don't consider walking a part of golf, stay away. If you don't consider nature a part of golf, stay away. If you can't stand the thought of getting an unluc
