Course Review and Comments

First off, I am a member at this course and it is a public course.

Lykens Valley Golf Course has undergone numerous renovations in the past two years. The course has 4 sets of tees offering options for every level of golfer. It is now able to be played longer than stated in the course stats on this site. The new tee boxes and bunkers (that will be done this year) are renovations that have made the course even better than ever before. It is in excellent condition the majority of the time. Fairways and greens are always great. For the money it is always in a condition that could compete with most country clubs.

Ratings

Date course was played Sunday 21st of March 2010
Price paid for golf 25
Price comments $30-$38 peak season
Good discounts mid-week
Course Design Rating
Course Design Comments Good design. Must be played strategically. The greens are small, tough and fast. It is not an overly long course but can bite you in many other ways.
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Rating
Course Greens/Fairways Condition Comments Excellent condition almost all year. Greens are always great and the fairways are always excellent. Late spring/summer the rough is a challenge but has two different cuts. All tee-boxes were redesigned and laser leveled in 2009 lengthening the course. New for 2010: redesigned and added bunkers with all new sand. (Still in the works as of March 2010)
Course Service Rating
Course Service Comments Always good service and contrary to the course info there is a Pro.
Course Facilities Rating
Course Facilities Comments Good course, small driving range with grass and mat tees, small practice green.
New pro-shop and restaurant.
Overall the facility is well above average.
